Pressure rising strongly to the south of the British Isles was effectively weakening a warm front, which was fast approaching from the west on Wednesday 29th January, allowing hazy yellowish sunshine to gleam through thickening cirrus by mid-morning at Abingdon.
This produced orange-coloured reflections of the third red lifebuoy (by colour addition) beside the "Nag's Head" Beer Garden, and these reflections were being considerably disturbed by small wavelets formed by the strong wind funnelling through the southernmost arch of the A415 road bridge.
