Situated in the centre of a shallow, circular pool, in light wind, this copious fountain was essentially a constant waterfall having the effect of sending broken, concentric waves out from the central source.
Being shallow, the water was disturbed throughout its depth, and had sufficient movement to carry fine sand and debris 'to and fro' on the concrete beneath.
In the painting, I have tried to convey this 'movement applied to depth' being helped by distribution of the opaque, bright sun and sky reflections which are mainly restricted to the left-distance of the picture.
